Banco di Napoli Foundation

During the past two years the Foundation has been carrying out the activities of the CREARCH program. The focus of program has been the reflection about the role of archives in the European society. We, with our partners, are trying to increase the accessibility and the public of historical archives. Our activities were also aimed to training archival professionals. The purpose of these activities was to broaden the field of competence of archivists and archival institutions.

This conference brought together leading accounting experts and scholars. Many representatives of historical archives were present and the "Fondazione Banco di Napoli" presented its commitment to the enhancement of the archives within the CREARCH project.

The Fondazione Banco di Napoli staff participated in the important meeting organized by the SCE READ on archive digitization technologies. During the meeting, the foundation's commitment to using digitization as development of the audience of the archives has been presented.

Various functions have been attributed to the archives over time in relation to the social structures and the cultural and political settings that have characterized their formation and conservation. Starting from this assumption, the speakers will question the methods of creation and conservation of the heritages kept in some of the main Italian Archives. The Fondazione Banco di Napoli staff presented its digitization program as a tool to broaden the audience of the archives.
