AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT PLAN

4.1.   Crowdsourcing e digital platform for participation

What can be the connecting tool that allows you to create a strong link between the general public and cultural institutions?

The availability of digital technologies leads to the continuous search for new application methods to improve offers to the public, and to reach a wider audience. The uniqueness of the archival heritage can live thanks to the participation of a large audience and to do so it must use the available, different, alternative, but equally practical and easily accessible resources.

Putting our cultural heritage online through special meetings or educational events will allow us to develop a continuous and constant relationship with the public. This can become a moment of participation through platforms that support hybrid visits, in which some users can be directly on site while others participate remotely and, together, interact and give their contribution.

The on-site presence of the visitor will bring a great contribution to those who decide to carry out their virtual tour from the comfort of their home. How? Establishing an empathic relationship with others, even if at a distance, can inspire and increase trust. And it is precisely through a personal experiential visit of the user that knowledge can be acquired, but at the same time transferred. The increase of positive feedback will lead to an increase in the reputation, reliability and credibility of the cultural institution.

Establishing links and fortifying them by operating remotely at national and international level can become a solid basis for fruitful meetings in proposing common projects.

So what can happen if traditional storytelling is flanked by the power of the digital world? Giving life to digital storytelling remotely will make it possible to bring the interests that the new generations have in technology closer to telling archives for the purpose of learning in a participatory and critical way. This framework makes the user no longer passive, but the main protagonist of their own experience.

The proposed contents can be shown through the use of devices and reinterpreted in a current key according to an attractive and stimulating logic for the user. The user's points of view will be shared with further participants and a great connection will be created, a circuit of debates that will lead to the reflection and reasoned construction of new projects to be integrated, allowing users to become active co-creators of the experience.[1]
